This year has been unpredictable, that’s for sure! It’s definitely not the year we had…
In their latest humanitarian effort, the founders of the Heightened Hearts Foundation, along with their trusted army of volunteers, traveled to a small town in Ukraine in February of 2016 to assist in the opening of a new kindergarten. During the trip, which by all accounts was a smashing success, the organization succeeded in donating some much-needed school supplies and other important items—supplies that will ultimately help the small number of Ukrainian children in this new kindergarten grow and thrive in the academic process.
In the following article we will illuminate the pressing need in Ukraine for kindergarten schools and preschool education, and showcase some of the highlights of this latest event. We will also provide you with some information on how you can help the Heightened Hearts Foundation continue to fulfill its mission, both in Ukraine and around the globe.
The Need for Kindergarten Schools and Preschool Education in Ukraine
The country of Ukraine, one of the largest countries by total area on the European continent, is made up of a few densely populated cities and a bevy of smaller towns and hamlets in its outlying areas. It is in these small towns that the need for kindergartens and preschool services is so great.
Fortunately, there are organizations like the Heightened Hearts Foundation that are constantly striving to help ease people’s lives in the country of Ukraine and beyond, and donate supplies that help place Ukrainian children on a more even footing when it comes to educational attainment and success.
Heightened Hearts Foundation Instrumental in Successful Ukrainian Kindergarten Opening
As the ribbon was being cut on the new Ukrainian kindergarten, the Heightened Hearts Foundation was right there to ensure that each new student would begin their educational adventure on the right foot.
The kindergarten that was successfully opened is located in a small Ukrainian town, and is the first school of its kind in that town which serves preschool-aged children—children who have yet to begin their compulsory education.
This was a very crucial step for this town and its children, as kindergarten and preschool education plays an essential role in early childhood development, both socially and academically. Attending kindergarten therefore has many long term benefits for children to ensure that they are ready for a classroom environment. Some of these benefits include:
-
Builds social skills
-
Improves confidence and self-esteem
-
Increases concentration
-
Improves cognitive skills
-
Builds an educational foundation
As it is all over the world, the children of Ukraine represent the future of the country, so the sooner they become involved in the educational process the better off the country, and the small towns that comprise it, will be in the long-term. Having a more educated populace can have some positive, long-range consequences on the condition and economy of these Ukrainian communities, instilling children with confidence, self-esteem, cooperative skills and a good work ethic.
In addition to the positive long-term impacts that high-quality preschool and child care have on children and ultimately the Ukrainian economy as a whole, these programs provide important benefits to the working parents of the country, especially working mothers. The high costs of private child care and the dearth of quality, accessible public providers in Ukraine, meant that often these parents were left to choose between the lesser of two evils: getting low-quality care for their pre-school-aged children, or forgo child care altogether, either by staying home from work or leaving small children alone or with relatives.
For all of these reasons, the new kindergarten that was opened with the assistance of the Heightened Hearts Foundation now fills a number of unique needs in the community, for children and parents alike. Now, parents in this small town can breathe a collective sigh of relief, knowing their small children are being adequately cared for—and challenged—while they are busy at work.
Not only did the Heightened Hearts Foundation assist in the opening of this small kindergarten school, they also donated some supplies to make sure the children there could thrive in this new environment. Some of these pre-school-age supplies included:
-
Educational Literature (appropriately-aged books)
-
Puppets for a puppet theater
-
Posters
-
Stands
-
Markers
-
Stickers
-
And many more pre-school-age supplies
Collectively, the supplies that were doled out to this small new kindergarten will go a long way towards ensuring the children there have all the tools they need to succeed.

How Can I Help the Heightened Hearts Foundation?
The volunteers at the Heightened Hearts Foundation have gone above and beyond in the past 6 months alone, bringing hope to a significant portion of Ukraine that previously felt bereft and hopeless. In addition to producing smiles to the small group of children who will now attend this brand new kindergarten, these same volunteers have assisted in food drives during the holiday months and toy giveaways around Christmas time. These events have enabled a countless number of families to achieve a speck of normalcy, happiness and peace in their lives.
If this sounds like a rewarding way to spend your free time, perhaps it’s time for you, too, to start giving back by becoming a Heightened Hearts volunteer. To do this, or to receive more information regarding the volunteer sign-up process, please contact the Heightened Hearts Foundation via phone at (800) 887-2772 or by email at info@heightenedhearts.org. You can also reach us via our Facebook page.
Of course, not everyone has the spare time to become a volunteer, but fortunately there are many other ways to lend a hand, including:
-
Donate a Vehicle. The Heightened Hearts Foundation has a CRUCIAL NEED for a donated truck or van. As we become more active with our humanitarian efforts, we are in desperate need for a reliable vehicle with which we can deliver supplies and other items to the families that need them most.
-
Make a One-Time Gift. By making a one-time gift to the Heightened Hearts Foundation, you will be helping us make a difference in the many lives we aim to serve.
-
Become a Recurring Sponsor. In order for us to continue to meet our mission to “create lasting solutions for poverty, hunger, and social injustice,” we desperately need recurring funding. Keep in mind that 100 percent of all one-time and recurring cash donations go directly to help individuals and families in the most desperate need of assistance.
To find out more about these and some of the other ways to support the good work of the Heightened Hearts Foundation, please contact us via phone at (800) 887-2772, by email at info@heightenedhearts.org, or by standard U.S. Post: 1521 Alton Rd, Ste 819, Miami Beach, Florida 33139. As we move ever closer to a globalized society, it has never been more imperative for us as a people to reach out and help those who are less fortunate than us. The Heightened Hearts Foundation is working tirelessly to close the gap between the “haves” and the “have-nots” around the world, but this mission will only be successful with the continued help of a giving and generous community. Thank you!
